SpaceX’s Crew-8 Mission to Move Dragon Capsule to Different Port on International Space Station
In an exciting development for space enthusiasts, SpaceX’s Crew-8 mission astronauts are set to relocate their Dragon capsule, named Endeavour, to a different port at the International Space Station on May 2. The Dragon capsule will undock from the forward-facing port of the station’s Harmony module and autonomously dock with Harmony’s space-facing port.
Viewers can witness this maneuver live on NASA’s coverage starting at 7:30 a.m. EDT. This relocation will open up Harmony’s forward-facing port for Boeing’s Starliner capsule, scheduled for its first-ever crewed mission on May 6. Crew-8 marks the eighth operational crewed mission that SpaceX has flown to the ISS for NASA.
The Crew-8 mission includes NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Jeannette Epps, and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin, who will reside aboard the station for six months. This relocation will be the fourth for a crewed Dragon capsule at the ISS, following similar maneuvers during the Crew-1, Crew-2, and Crew-6 missions.
Stay tuned as the astronauts carry out this intricate maneuver in space, showcasing the continued collaboration between SpaceX and NASA in advancing space exploration. Don’t miss the live coverage to witness history in the making as the Dragon capsule makes its way to a new port on the ISS.
