At least five people, including a 4-month-old child, were tragically killed as severe storms and tornadoes tore through the heartland, leaving a path of destruction in their wake. Hughes County, Oklahoma reported four deaths in the storms, with a baby in Holdenville and one person in Sulphur among the casualties. Additionally, a man injured in a tornado in Minden, Iowa on Friday has also sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds wasted no time in touring the devastated town of Minden and activating emergency policies in response to the natural disaster. Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt also confirmed four deaths in his state and declared a state of emergency in 12 counties as the communities of Holdenville and Sulphur were hit hard by the storms, resulting in several injuries.
A drone view captured the aftermath in Omaha, Nebraska, showing damaged buildings and debris strewn across the area after tornadoes wreaked havoc. However, Nebraska managed to escape without any reported fatalities, despite enduring strong tornadoes that caused widespread damage in the Elkhorn neighborhood of Omaha.
