Following closely behind is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at 11%, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott at 6%.

The survey reveals that a remarkable 82% of Trump’s current backers are committed to supporting him, while only 42% of Haley’s supporters and 38% of DeSantis’ backers are certain they won’t change their minds.

He sees widespread support among likely voters under the age of 45, self-described “very conservative” individuals, and those in lower-income households. Furthermore, white evangelical Christian voters, who play a significant role in South Carolina’s GOP primary electorate, largely support Trump.
The poll also sheds light on the key concerns for likely Republican primary voters in South Carolina. Top issues include the economy, immigration, voting rights and election integrity, abortion, foreign policy, and energy policy. These voters consider it crucial for the presidential nominee to care about people like them, fight for conservative values even when unpopular, and represent the future of the party.
In contrast to Trump’s popularity, the sitting Democratic president, Joe Biden, faces significant unpopularity in South Carolina. The survey reveals that Biden’s overall approval rating in the state stands at a mere 33%.
The CNN poll, conducted both online and by telephone from October 18 to 25, included a random sample of 1,140 registered voters in South Carolina, with 738 likely Republican primary voters participating.
