Patrick Mahomes’ brother, Jackson Mahomes, has had three felony charges dismissed by prosecutors in Kansas. The charges were related to allegations that Mahomes grabbed a woman by the neck and kissed her against her will. Johnson County Assistant District Attorney Megan Ahsens filed a motion to dismiss the charges, citing a lack of cooperation from the woman involved.
At a recent hearing, the felony charges were dropped, but Mahomes still faces a misdemeanor battery charge, to which he pleaded not guilty. Mahomes’ attorney maintains his client’s innocence, stating that “he has done nothing wrong.”
The alleged incident took place in February at Aspens Restaurant and Lounge in Overland Park, Kansas. Mahomes was accused of shoving a waiter and forcefully kissing the restaurant’s owner multiple times without her consent. As a result of the charges, the owner of the restaurant, Aspen Vaughn, decided to close the business due to the negative publicity and harassment she faced.
Prosecutors were presented with an affidavit from Vaughn’s attorneys, indicating that she would refuse to testify. Attempts to serve her with subpoenas were also unsuccessful. As a result, the misdemeanor battery charge remains, specifically due to the alleged shoving of the waiter.
The district attorney’s office declined to comment on the case, leaving many questions unanswered. Despite the dropped felony charges, the situation surrounding Jackson Mahomes and the alleged incident continues to be a topic of interest and speculation.
As the younger brother of a famous NFL player, the spotlight is often on Jackson Mahomes. However, as the legal proceedings unfold, it will be up to the court to determine the truth behind these serious allegations.
