IKEA, the Swedish furniture giant, is expanding its offering of smart home devices with a new range of affordable sensors. The trio of sensors, aimed at enhancing security and convenience in the home, includes the Parasoll door and window sensor, the Vallhorn wireless motion sensor, and the Barding water leakage sensor.
The Parasoll sensor is designed to alert homeowners if doors or windows are opened or closed unexpectedly, providing an added layer of security. It also has the capability to pair directly with IKEA smart bulbs, allowing users to control their lighting with ease.
The Vallhorn motion sensor, on the other hand, activates lights when movement is detected. Users have the ability to customize the color and intensity of the lights, making it easy to set the perfect ambiance in any room. Additionally, the sensor can control up to 10 IKEA smart bulbs.
The final addition to the lineup is the Barding water leakage sensor. This sensor is designed to detect and alert users to any potential leaks before they cause significant damage. It can send mobile notifications or trigger an alarm, giving homeowners the peace of mind they need to protect their homes.
In terms of design, IKEA has ensured that these sensors blend seamlessly into any home decor. They are small and white in color, allowing them to discreetly fit into any room.
All three sensors are compatible with IKEA’s Dirigera Hub, a central control system for smart home devices. The Vallhorn sensor is also compatible with the older Tradfri gateway, providing flexibility for users with existing smart home setups.
IKEA believes that these new sensors address consumers’ increasing desire for safety and security at home. With the ability to monitor doors, windows, motion, and water leakage, these devices provide a comprehensive solution for homeowners looking to protect their loved ones and belongings.
While pricing for the sensors in the US has yet to be announced, in Europe, the Parasoll sensor will be priced at €9.99, while the Vallhorn and Barding sensors will be priced at €7.99 and €9.99, respectively.
Consumers in the US can expect the sensors to hit the market in phased releases. The Vallhorn sensor is set to launch in January of 2024, followed by the Parasoll sensor in April, and finally, the Barding sensor in July of the same year.
With IKEA’s expanding range of smart home devices, homeowners can look forward to affordable options that provide peace of mind, control, and comfort in their everyday lives.
