Google Phone app introduces new feature for Android users, “Audio Emoji”
Android users in the beta update channel have recently noticed a new menu in calls made with the Google Phone app called “Audio Emoji”. This feature, which is slowly rolling out and has not been formally announced by Google yet, gives callers a soundboard with six different sound effects to choose from.
The sound effects include clapping, laughing, celebrations, sad trombone, “ba dum tss”, and even farting. Each sound effect is accompanied by short graphics, such as an animation of a “chocolate ice cream cone” squishing to the ground surrounded by flies.
Users have the option to disable the menu by clicking an “X” in the top right corner. However, it is unclear whether this prevents friends from sending sound effects during calls. There is also a cooldown between emojis to prevent spamming of sound effects.
This new feature adds a fun and interactive element to phone calls, allowing users to express themselves in a unique way. Keep an eye out for the “Audio Emoji” menu in your Google Phone app and try out the different sound effects for yourself!
