President Biden Under Fire for Response to Israeli Airstrike
President Biden is facing criticism from both Democrats and Republicans following his response to an Israeli airstrike that killed aid workers from World Central Kitchen in Gaza. While expressing outrage over the deaths, Biden did not indicate a change in his approach to supporting Israel.
Demanding an investigation into the attack and accountability for those responsible, Biden is said to be privately enraged over the airstrike. However, critics, including former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau, argue that Biden’s private anger is not enough and that he appears weak for not using leverage to stop the violence.
Democratic Michigan state Rep. Abraham Aiyash accused Biden of prioritizing Netanyahu’s Israel over innocent lives and human decency. On the other hand, some Republicans criticized Biden for blaming Israel instead of Hamas for the tragedy.
Rep. Mike Waltz also pointed out the Biden administration’s drone strike in Afghanistan that killed an aid worker and his family with no accountability. The United Nations reported that at least 196 humanitarian workers have been killed in Gaza since the beginning of the war.
With tensions rising over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, President Biden’s response to the recent airstrike has stirred a heated debate among lawmakers and the public. As calls for accountability and a change in approach continue to mount, all eyes are on the White House to see how they will address the situation moving forward.
