Two Homicides Linked to Idaho Inmate and Accomplice Who Escaped Hospital Custody
Idaho police are currently investigating two homicides that are potentially linked to Skylar Meade, an Idaho inmate, and his accomplice Nicholas Umphenour. The duo managed to escape from hospital custody after Meade was discharged from Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. This escape followed an incident where Meade engaged in self-injurious behavior at a correctional facility.
Meade, who was serving time for aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer with a firearm, and Umphenour, the shooter, were captured after a 36-hour manhunt in Twin Falls, Idaho. The two individuals have ties to the White supremacist group Aryan Knights.
The escape involved an ambush of three corrections officers, resulting in two officers being wounded. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating how the breakout was planned and executed. Detectives found the getaway car used in the escape near Leland, Idaho.
The Idaho State Police will continue investigating the homicides and the inmate escape, while the Ada County Sheriff’s Office will be looking into the officer-involved shooting. Despite heightened security measures for Meade’s hospital visit, questions still remain regarding how the escape was able to take place.
According to Idaho Department of Correction Director Josh Tewalt, facility leadership followed all policies and practices for the transport of inmates. However, the incident has raised concerns about the security protocols in place for such situations. Stay tuned for further updates as the investigation unfolds on ‘Celebrity Beauty Buzz’.
