Porsche Taycan Breaks Lap Records at Weathertech Raceway and Nürburgring
In a dazzling display of speed and precision, Porsche recently shattered the lap record at Weathertech Raceway in Laguna Seca with their electric sedan, the Taycan. Development driver Lars Kern set a new record of 1:27.87, besting the previous record held by the Tesla Model S Plaid.
The Taycan’s model expansion includes the Turbo GT and Turbo GT with the Weissach package, offering unparalleled performance and agility. The Turbo GT model can reach 60mph in just 2.1 seconds, with a top speed of 190mph. The Weissach package, which removes rear seats to reduce weight for faster lap times, was instrumental in achieving these impressive results.
Not content with just one record-breaking performance, the Taycan also set a new lap record at the iconic Nürburgring track with a time of 7:07.55 minutes. The Turbo GT models boast a range of around 340 miles, with a continuous 777 horsepower and a peak power output of 1,019 horsepower. Both models run on 96.0kWh batteries and a two-speed gearbox specially modified to support torque up to 988 pound-feet.
Porsche’s dedication to pursuing lap records serves as a testament to their commitment to showcasing the performance and advancements in their vehicles. With each new achievement, Porsche continues to raise the bar for electric vehicle technology and performance.
