Title: “New Year’s Resolutions: A Snapshot of Americans’ Goals for 2024”
Subtitle: “Saving Money and Finding Happiness Top the List for 34% of U.S. Adults”
As 2024 approaches, a recent poll conducted by YouGov reveals that a significant number of U.S. citizens are planning to kickstart the year with New Year’s resolutions or set personal goals. The study found that 34% of adult Americans are determined to make positive changes in their lives.
When it comes to age groups, it seems that younger adults are most enthusiastic about setting resolutions, with a staggering 52% of those under 30 planning to do so. Following closely behind, 44% of individuals between the ages of 30 and 44 are motivated to make a fresh start in 2024.
On the other end of the spectrum, the percentage drops significantly for older age groups. Only 27% of those aged 45 to 64 express a desire to set resolutions, while a mere 18% of individuals aged 65 and above are focused on making changes for the upcoming year.
The poll also shed light on the most common resolutions for 2024. Topping the list is the goal of saving more money, with 23% of respondents prioritizing financial stability. Following closely behind, 22% of participants aim to find happiness, while 21% emphasize the importance of exercising more and improving their physical and mental health. Additionally, 20% aspire to adopt healthier eating habits, while 19% aim to shed some pounds.
While the majority of resolutions revolve around personal development, some respondents harbored aspirations in other areas of their lives. Among the less common resolutions, 9% expressed the desire to seek new job opportunities, 8% planned to pursue new hobbies, and 7% considered making a move to a different location.
As the New Year approaches, it is worth noting that Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer, will be open during regular hours on New Year’s Day in 2024. Most locations will welcome customers from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. However, it is advised that individuals check with their specific Walmart store as certain services may have reduced hours.
For the significant portion of Americans who do not make resolutions, Walmart offers an opportunity to indulge in post-celebration treats. Shoppers may find candy and other items on sale, allowing them to enjoy the festivities without the added pressure of resolutions. And for those contemplating weight loss resolutions, January 2nd can serve as a fresh start to pursuing health goals.
As the clock counts down to 2024, Americans are determined to embrace the new year by setting resolutions, with a significant focus on financial stability, happiness, and overall well-being. Whether we succeed or not, the act of setting goals allows us to reflect on our aspirations and strive for personal growth in the year ahead.
